A little hat and a top for me

I'm currently working on 03-2009 #106. It's the drawstring blouse. Christina's version is what made me decide to try it. Not only did she visually document the yoke/collar attachment (thank you!) but her finished blouse looks great.

I'm going to use this Gorgeous Fabrics shirting. I bought it a while ago.

Last night I whipped up a baby hat for my friend and her new baby, Scarlett. Isn't it a great name? The pattern is my own design. I leave velcro off the little baby hats so they don't scratch sensitive skin. Yes, another embroidery. *blush* It is getting addictive. This is some of the Seafoam Polartec 200.

Close-up of the embroidery. It's from Urban Threads.

I'm off to cut the fabric.

Dawn - another option for embroidery designs is through http://www.embroideryonline.com/index.aspx
You can also go to Seams Like Home and look through the design catalog, choose the ones you want and then have burned to a CD or a USB stick - whichever works with your machine. I try to avoid the catalog...I get hooked on a design or set every time I am in the store!
And enjoy the addiction - it is like having a serger - you wonder how you managed without it!
Sorry, one more thing....check out the 5000m cones of Isacord thread at Seams Like Home - she has some basic colors but plans to get more.

I just love Urban Threads, but haven't figured out what to apply any of them to yet. They're so cute...and subversive.

I'm just following in your footsteps, sewing wise. I spent all day Saturday tracing and altering the BWOF shirt dress (thanks for the tip on the hips-I measured the pattern and whoa that baby is tight...almost no ease). Next on my list is the drawstring blouse.

It looks like you have a handle on the embroidery machine. Another site that has some cute designs for children is: smartneedle.com

I love the embroidered hat.It is truly adorable. Not to change topics-I am- I want to thank you for your tutorial on the infamous puffy sleeve top BWOF 2/2009/118. I made one yesterday NOT following the rules (because I could not figure them out) And 3 more cut out (daughters and myself) and I am going to follow your tutorial. If the top was not so darn cute I would abandon it immediately. I hope to finish 1-2 this weekend and post. But right now I need to walk away from this project and breathe. But your tutorial is making sense-so thanks again. Look forward to your next posts.
